Sharp and spiky objects like knifes, scissors, tools as well as firefarms and toy guns etc. are not permitted in your hand luggage.

A list of prohibited objects (according to BMI - Federal Ministry of the Interior), which are not permitted to be taken into the security areas of German airports or on board of airplanes or carried in your checked-in baggage can be found here.

Since November 2006 new safety regualtions for the transport of liquids  in your hand luggage apply.

The transportation of gas lighters is permitted if carried on at your body. It is prohibited to transport it in your checked-in baggage as well as in your hand luggage.

The transportation of petrol lighters (Zippo) is strictly prohibited.

In case you are carrying a good with you that is classified as hazardous in air traffic (like a knife, scissors) you may ship it to an address of your choice for a fee of 5€. Envelopes are available and a post box is directly located at the security. Please note that dangerous goods and lighters must not be mailed!
