Starting from the ideas of the environmental protection, miscellaneous aspects have been considered during the planning and the daily air traffic for many years. Special efforts are made in order to minimize so far as possible negative effects of the air traffic.

In order to combine/bundle these projects and in order to take back the synergy effects, so the airport Friedrichshafen GmbH decided in 2001 as first regional airport of Germany, to take the way of the certification according to the Community Eco-Management and Audit scheme (EU – Eco - Audit).

On 13.03.2003 the validation Audit was carried out and on 21.03.2003 the environmental statement was validated and registered by the Chamber of Industry and Commerce in the EMAS record/ list.

Well the triannual cycle of the annual update begins and also a validation in 2006, so that the airport Friedrichshafen GmbH could achieved a continuous improvement process in the sector of the environment.
